Valerie Lowenstein, from Chestnut Hill, Mass., is currently a national vice president, and she serves on the Executive Committee. Valerie is also a member of the Ethics Committee, the National Governance and Constitution Committee and the National Nurses and Allied Health Professional Council. She is currently serving as the co-chair of the Heart of Hadassah 2023 symposium in Chicago.
Locally, Valerie continues to serve on the Hadassah Boston Region Board and the Health Professional Committee, as well as a member on the Major Gifts Committee. Previously, Valerie served as the national stewardship chair, national health and wellness chair and vice-chair of Hadassah Israel Travel, formerly known as Hadasah Missions. She also served on Hadassah’s National Strategic Planning Committee.
As health and wellness chair, Valerie established a strong link between Hadassah’s Health and Wellness in the United States and Hadassah hospitals in Israel. Valerie developed and chaired Every Beat Count Counts; Hadassah’s Heart Health Program, a new health initiative for Hadassah members and local communities in collaboration with Sister to Sister, the Women’s Heart Health Foundation.
She also developed a new health and wellness program, Check It Out for Adults®, targeting both women and men and including an environmental component. Previously, Valerie led the development of the CHECK IT OUT® for Teens program in the Boston area. Valerie also cultivated new partnerships with two other nonprofit organizations, Sharsheret and CancerCare, to strengthen and broaden Hadassah’s health educational programs.
Valerie is a past president of the Boston Chapter and past president of the Landy Kaplan Nurses Council. As president of the Boston Chapter, Valerie was instrumental in developing the first Women of Distinction Gala for the chapter. The event became an annual major gifts fundraising event for the chapter.
