Women’s Health

Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Inc., firmly believes that robust scientific research and evidence should be the foundation for policy development and decision-making, particularly when related to public health and patient care.

As the owner of premier hospitals in Israel that are innovative and compassionate global leaders in medical care, treatment and research, Hadassah understands that improved public health and patient outcomes are rooted in science and innovation. We celebrate and take great pride in our dedicated researchers and clinicians, who all strive to achieve the highest standards of scientific integrity in research and patient care.

As a global humanitarian organization that bridges divides to provide high-quality care for patients of every faith, culture and ideology, Hadassah recognizes that science-based health care is critical. From the development of lifesaving vaccines to the immeasurable promise of personalized medicine, we believe that funding for basic science and for efforts to translate research into practical applications is vital to efforts across the globe to improve human health, respond to pressing challenges and advance innovation and economic growth.

We believe that lawmakers have an important role to play in advancing science that has the potential to improve human health and well-being, helping the public understand and embrace scientific evidence and shaping an environment that respectfully engages with scientists.

Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, strongly urges policymakers at the local, state and federal levels to:

  • Use accredited experts and resources to develop and enact policies based on science, especially policies that impact health.
  • Stand with and help advance well-founded science, scientists and health professionals promoting positive health behaviors among the public.
  • Continue to fund basic and applied scientific research to fuel public health and other important advancements.
  • Speak out to oppose and refute efforts to vilify scientists and undermine science-based policy decisions.

Hadassah's Policy Statements represent the organization's official stance on a wide variety of issues facing our nation, Israel and other international matters of concern. Policy Statements are debated and voted on at national meetings by Hadassah’s national board and delegates from our membership. Once approved, statements become official policies of the organization and serve to define Hadassah's overall agenda and advocacy priorities.
