NEW YORK, NY: May 23, 2022—On Wednesday, June 1, comedian and third-generation Hadassah member Judy Gold will host “Hadassah and Jerusalem: United Forever.” The Yom Yerushalayim event will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the reunification both of East and West Jerusalem and of Hadassah’s two hospitals, Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus, in East Jerusalem, and Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, in West Jerusalem, following the Six-Day War. The virtual event will be livestreamed on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 8:00 to 9:00 pm ET.

The celebration will feature:

  • Remarks by Fleur Hassan, Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem; Rhoda Smolow and Naomi Adler, National President and CEO, respectively, of Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, which is presenting the event; and Tamar Elram, Director of Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus;
  • A performance by the internationally known Israeli-American duo Yonina, whose blend of Jewish, non-Jewish, secular and religious songs has earned them millions of fans around the world;
  • Footage of the inaugural 15K run between Hadassah’s East and West Jerusalem hospital campuses to symbolize their reunification; and
  • A video presentation about a key event in the hospitals’ history, the massacre during Israel’s War of Independence in 1948 of 78 doctors, nurses, students, patients and guards who were part of a convoy bringing critically needed supplies to the Mount Scopus hospital.

Said Hadassah President Smolow: “Yom Yerushalayim occupies a special place in the hearts of Jews all over the world, including the 300,000 members of the Hadassah community. ‘Hadassah and Jerusalem: United Forever’ is a chance to celebrate this historic event and the inspiring work of our two hospitals.”
