Hadassah Magazine Receives Eight Rockower Awards

NEW YORK, NY – Hadassah Magazine won eight Simon Rockower Awards, the annual prizes for excellence in Jewish journalism awarded by the American Jewish Press Association (AJPA), announced Carol Ann Schwartz, National President, Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America (HWZOA).

"It is gratifying to be recognized for the journalistic excellence that we at Hadassah Magazine always strive for," said Lisa Hostein, the magazine's executive editor. "This year's winning entries include the range of stories that we are known for — from insightful arts and culture features to hard-hitting stories that examine the heavy toll of October 7 and the ensuing war for Israelis and Jews around the world."

Uriel Heilman won first place for “The Economic Fallout of War” in the category of Excellence in Business Reporting. The judges praised his “thorough, engaging comprehensive story that had sharp interviews with both experts and real people.

Sue Fishkoff also won first place for “A ‘Great Awakening’ for American Jewry” in the wild card category of Excellence in Writing about the War in Israel: Feature Writing.
