Since the “unprecedented, barbaric assault on Israel” began Saturday morning, more than 100 war wounded have been treated at Hadassah’s hospitals in Jerusalem. Of these, 90 percent have been IDF soldiers.
“We are grateful for our supporters who continue to enable us to do this life-saving work, and so proud of our hospitals for being a beacon of light in such dark, heartbreaking times,” Hadassah National President Rhoda Smolow said Thursday during a live public briefing.
Medical teams are addressing complicated injuries to the chest, stomach, hands, limbs and heads of their patients, said Prof. Yoram Weiss, director general of Hadassah Medical Organization. As of Thursday, 50 patients remained in the hospitals.
“Our teams, over the past week, have worked diligently to assist all those who were brought to Hadassah to provide them with the best, top-notch medical care,” Weiss said.
At the same time, the hospital staff is already preparing for what could come next, setting up more beds in safe and secure locations in the event the hospitals themselves are attacked and working to expand services for psychological care.
Chief Executive Officer Naomi Adler urged those looking for a way to help to make a donation to Hadassah’s emergency campaign.
