The Hadassah Nurses & Allied Health Professionals Council is thrilled to announce that Dr. Noble, a senior clinical lecturer at the Henrietta Szold Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Nursing and a volunteer with the Interfaith Encounter Association (IEA), has received Israel’s Presidential Award for Volunteerism. The festive ceremony took place on June 15 at the home of the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog.
The award is presented annually to organizations and individuals who excel in their voluntary work and this year one of the recipients is IEA. Founded and directed by Dr. Yehuda Stolov, the association works to bridge gaps among people of different faiths in Israel and the Middle East through inter-religious dialogue and cross-cultural study.
For the past 15 years Dr. Noble, who founded the first interfaith group for healthcare professionals under the auspices of the IEA, has collaborated with other volunteers on the impact of cultural beliefs, attitudes and practices on healthcare delivery. Her volunteering has educated healthcare professionals about the importance of culturally competent care through sensitivity to patients' cultural beliefs, languages and practices.
"Healthcare professionals do not have to take an either-or approach – rather the individual concepts can be incorporated into the umbrella of cultural competence to provide care that is holistic, dynamic and respectful." -- Dr. Anita Noble, Transcultural Nursing Society blog, January 2022
