Hadassah launched its new National Educators Council with a galvanizing January 31 inaugural celebration, "Hadassah Loves Educators," joined by hundreds of online attendees around the country. “Hadassah was built on a bedrock of valuing education," said Hadassah National President Rhoda Smolow.
Co-chaired by Gail Hammerman and Karen Bloom, the New Educators Council is working to create a community of empowered educators who share a passion for learning and teaching with the tools needed to support the future and stability of Judaism, Zionism and Israel through education.
During what Karen Bloom described as a "thought provoking event," Hadassah CEO Naomi Adler and six past Hadassah National Presidents shared congratulatory remarks and Hadassah history, followed by an in-depth conversation moderated by Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Lisa Hostein, featuring award-winning historian and leading Zionist activist/writer Gil Troy and Jewish educator and entrepreneur Rachel Raz. Musical performances from Rabbi Mark Bloom, cantorial soloist Lisa Marcus Jones and singer-songwriter Rosalie Gerut added to the celebration.
Said Hammerman: "All educators are welcome to be part of our empowered community."
