The only medical center in Israel to be ranked by Newsweek among the best cancer institutes in the world, Hadassah’s Sharett Institute of Oncology boasts not only outstanding researchers but also innovative, cutting-edge treatment that gives cancer patients the best possible outcomes.
In a Jerusalem Post article highlighting Hadassah’s achievements in cancer treatment and research, Prof. Yoram Weiss, director general of the Hadassah Medical Organization, said, “Our priority is having the best clinicians, the best researchers and the best educators, which informs our financial decisions. This was true in the past, it is true in the present and from what I see, it will also be true in the future.”
The robust infrastructure at Hadassah provides companies that want to advance their products opportunities that don’t exist elsewhere. At the Hadassah Cancer Research Institute, connections are made between the hospital, researchers at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and the bio-tech industry.
In cooperation with a start-up company called P-Cure, for example, Hadassah established the Proton Center, the first of its kind in the Middle East. Radiation using protons rather than commonly used photons limits the harmful effects of radiation on healthy tissues.
