Speaking from the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, Deputy Chief of Mission Eliav Benjamin provided Hadassah supporters with an overview of the impacts of Iran’s attack on Israel on April 13 and the international community’s response.
“What happened last Saturday is a reminder and should be a reminder for us all about the real threat,” Benjamin said during the online briefing with Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz, attended by hundreds of Hadassah supporters around the country.
“The war shouldn’t just be perceived as an Israeli war against a terrorist organization,” he added. “This is an international war against terrorism. This is basically good versus evil.”
Schwartz asked a series of questions of Benjamin, including what Hadassah members can do to keep advocating for Israel, and provided an update to the ambassador and attendees about Hadassah’s war efforts. “Be out there. Don’t be shy. Be proud of supporting Israel,” Benjamin said. “There are too many people out there, including in Congress, who have forgotten what happened on October 7.”
After her conversation with Benjamin concluded, Schwartz addressed the attendees directly on how Hadassah’s hospitals and Youth Aliyah villages are preparing for whatever may come and asking for their support.
“By donating to Hadassah right now, you play a critical role in helping to heal Israel now, support our soldiers, support the civilians, support the displaced families,” Schwartz said. “I thank you for everything you do to support Hadassah.”
