"We, the members of Hadassah Medical Organization here in Israel, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support of our activity, both in caring for and treating the physical wounds but also the psychological wounds to our souls after these terrible events.”
That’s how Prof. Yoram Weiss, director general of the Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO), closed his remarks during the Hadassah on the Ground: In Peace and War briefing, which is the focus of the latest Hadassah On Call episode. Prof. Weiss expressed his gratitude to Hadassah supporters for helping Hadassah's hospitals treat more than 300 injured civilians and soldiers, care for 55 civilians and soldiers in its rehabilitation center and soon open a new rehabilitation center to remedy the lack of rehabilitation beds in Jerusalem.
Delving into the short- and long-term needs of victims affected by the Hamas massacre, this episode features Dr. Shiri Ben-David, chief psychologist at HMO, shedding light on navigating trauma during times of war; Dr. Amit Shalev, director of the Herman Dana Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at HMO, who emphasizes the remarkable strength of the human spirit and mind; and Einat Reich, chairwoman of Hadassah Neurim, who shares updates on how the students at Hadassah-supported Youth Aliyah villages are dealing with the war.
