“Nobody is perfectly mentally healthy,” says Dr. Shiri Ben-David, chief psychologist at the Hadassah Medical Organization and guest on the new episode of the Hadassah On Call podcast, airing during Mental Health Awareness Month.
“We all suffer from various disorders, even if not diagnosed,” she says. Common mental health disorders include mood disorders, depression, anxiety disorders and phobias.
Yet post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is not as common, as only about 20 percent of people who experience a traumatic event will suffer from the disorder.
Who’s more likely to have PTSD? What are the symptoms? And what is the prevalence of the disorder in Israel, especially post-October 7? Tune in to hear Dr. Ben-David answer these questions and more.
