In a June article in the peer-reviewed Israel Medical Association Journal, Prof. Itai Shavit, pediatric division director at the Hadassah Medical Organization, details what life was like for him in the days and months following October 7.
As an army reservist, Prof. Shavit was drafted to serve as a flight physician with the Israel Defense Forces immediately following Hamas’ attack, rescuing soldiers from the battlefield and transporting them to hospitals.
He writes about the method of care given to these soldiers and the emotional impact of what he experienced.
