In an interview last week with The Times of Israel during her second trip to Israel in as many weeks, Hadassah National President Rhoda Smolow reported, “It’s the closest I’ve ever felt to Hadassah founder Henrietta Szold. It’s like walking in her footsteps as she rescued children from the Holocaust.”
Both Smolow and Naomi Adler, CEO of Hadassah, traveled to Jerusalem with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to assess the critical situation in Israel, to meet with Israeli leaders, and to offer their compassion and support to the families of those missing or held as hostages.
On a visit to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, part of the Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem, the entire group of some 50 American leaders met with several hospitalized victims of Hamas’s terrorism.
According to Smolow and Adler, Hadassah is receiving an outpouring of donations and support, and many American officials are reaching out to Hadassah for information and education on the current situation so that they will be better informed.
