Hadassah Surgeons Perform Successful Brain Surgery on Pregnant Woman

“Moriel, the tumor has grown significantly; it could endanger you. We’re proceeding with surgery.”

Those were the concerning words Moriel Indek, 32, from Moshav Nov, heard from Dr. Samuel Moscovici, head of the Skull Base and Pituitary Surgery Unit at the Hadassah Medical Organization, about her brain tumor. Because she was pregnant.

The risky surgery performed at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem successfully removed the mass, a benign tumor in the pituitary gland that had grown after first being discovered seven years ago.

Six months post-surgery, Indek gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
