Patients with severe osteoporosis are now benefiting from the introduction of a new biological treatment at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. The drug, given subcutaneously by injection, is an antibody that works against the protein inhibiting bone formation. Given once a month for up to a year, the drug has just entered the “drug basket” of 2020 and can be given to patients unable to receive Forteo, the only bone-building treatment previously available in Israel.
