This week the Princess of Thailand, Prof. Dr. H.R.H. Chulabhorn Mahidol, toured Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem during a royal visit to Israel. The Princess, who holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry, wanted to see firsthand the innovative and technologically advanced methods used at Hadassah to treat cancer patients.
Accompanied by Prof. Yoram Weiss, director general of the Hadassah Medical Organization, the Princess met with Hadassah’s leading oncology experts, including Prof. Aharon Popovitzer, director of the Sharett Institute of Oncology, and Prof. Michal Lotem, head of the Center for Immunotherapy in Melanoma and Cancer in the Department of Oncology. She also visited the underground operating rooms, where she saw the role that robotics and sophisticated navigation systems play in delicate and difficult surgeries.
Prof. Weiss commented, “Such a unique visit to Hadassah emphasizes that our medical center is world-renowned, its reputation acquired through the hard work of brilliant minds and the use of advanced technologies.”
