Lean In? This Woman Social Entrepreneur was Practically Planking – Way Back In 1912.

For Women’s Empowerment Month in March, Anastasia Torres-Gil reflects on her favorite social entrepreneur – Henrietta Szold – whose “crowd-funding” started with pennies, nickels and dimes to create the two world-class medical research hospitals in Jerusalem which originally created Israel’s modern healthcare system. Anastasia is a Hadassah National Board Member and a Wexner Fellowship Alumna.

In her column, Anastasia writes about the seemingly impossible dreams of this upstart matron of the start-up nation and how today, her sense of purpose inspires hundreds of thousands of women worldwide.

This article is part of Hadassah’s series on "Purpose" in Thrive Global, the new media platform founded by Arianna Huffington.
