Growing up in Israel, Nikole was frequently teased at school by her classmates. Her family only spoke Russian and her teachers called her lazy, when she was really just struggling to understand.
After making up frequent excuses not to go to school, finally she said, “Mom, I want to go to another school because of the bullying.”
They looked around and found Meir Shfeyah, Hadassah’s Youth Aliyah village in northern Israel. “Immediately, I loved this school,” Nikole said. “I was in shock. Nobody bullied me.”
Nikole is now thriving and participating in the horse therapy program at the village.
