Graduation Day
On June 1, Meir Shfeyah was finally able to honor its 99 graduates in a joyful, moving outdoor ceremony, the first since the pandemic's arrival.
The assembly of students, parents and grandparents – from Ethiopia, Morocco, Russia and Ukraine -- was a true kibbutz galuyot, a gathering of people who take enormous pride in walking in the footsteps of Henrietta Szold.
"It’s always a bittersweet moment as our students close out this chapter and embark on new lives, whether in the IDF, national service, work or studies," said Lauren Stern Kedem, Hadassah's liaison to the youth village. "But it is also deeply satisfying knowing they leave us as stronger, better and kinder people who know the value of paying it forward."
Mother-Daughter Shabbaton
Through Hadassah's Joy of Judaism program, a heartwarming "Woman of Valor" (Eshet Chayil) Mother-Daughter Shabbaton took place on June 10 at Meir Shfeyah. Designed and conducted by Dr. Esther Serok, the program aims to help mend fractured mother-daughter relationships through counseling and other support services. By helping the women to strengthen their sense of Jewish identity, nurture their self-image and recognize their personal accomplishments, this shabbaton enabled daughters and mothers to begin the process of reconnecting, strengthening relationships and learning to appreciate one another in ways that have changed them forever.
Your support and personal involvement in Hadassah’s Youth Aliyah Villages make a huge impact on the lives of these young people.
