“In the aftermath of the October 7 terror attacks, Dr. Yoram Weiss, director general of the Hadassah Medical Organization, had two priorities: construct an underground hospital at its Mount Scopus campus … and open the Gandel Rehabilitation Center, which was still under construction, in order to provide treatment as quickly as possible to the thousands of people wounded in the initial October 7 attacks and the war,” reports Judah Ari Gross in an April 3 eJewishPhilanthropy article.
In the piece, Prof. Weiss spoke about plans for the future of Hadassah’s Jerusalem hospitals and the role that philanthropy plays in those plans, especially for the the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus and the renovation of the Round Building at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, part of the 360 Degrees of Healing campaign, both near completion. “All our buildings are basically thanks to donors from all over the world — and from Israel — but especially from the United States. We are an American organization, and that’s why you have the American flag here in the room… because we are here thanks to an American organization.”
