There was a time when the common perception of a Jewish person was something out of Fiddler on the Roof. The reality, of course, is that Jewish people reflect a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds, just as there is a variety of Jewish practices in the US and around the world. Here is an outstanding opportunity to hear from two extraordinary, ethnically diverse Jewish women: Michelle Rojas-Tal, Hadassah's Zionist Scholar-in-Residence and a Jewish Latina, and Mahrinah Shije, Tewa and Sephardic Jew. Shije has two decades of experience in global development, high tech startups, venture capital and diplomacy. She holds a BA and MS in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business. Rojas-Tal is a global speaker and advocate who is recognized as a trailblazer inhelping young Jews navigate complex conversations about Zionism, Jewish identity and Israel engagement. In 2013, she was featured in The Jerusalem Post's list of the 50 most influential Jews in the world and named one of only six “Women to Watch” in the Jewish world.
In this program presented by Evolve Hadassah: The Next Generation, the two women talk one-on-one about their experiences as Jewish women of certain ethnic identities, the identity of Jewish women as a whole today, core universal Jewish values that unite us, and the importance of identity building.
