Aharon Pomansky, 17, was stabbed in the back by Palestinian terrorists next to the Damascus Gate. He was taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus.
On the night of the attack "My brother, my friend and his girlfriend and I were all praying at the Kotel on Shabbat," said Pomansky. "On the way out, via Damascus Gate, I was stabbed in the lower back, left side. I felt the knife go in, but was still able to stand. They ran after my friend and brother. We alerted the border police. I took off my jacket and saw the blood."
Aharon is originally from Brooklyn. He moved to Israel about four months ago and has been studying at a pre-army yeshiva. Despite being brutally attacked by a terrorist, Aharon still plans to enlist in the Israel Defense Force in the hopes of being drafted into an elite combat unit. His brother hopes to follow in Aharon’s footsteps.
“She didn't freak out when she heard that I was stabbed," said Aharon, when asked about his mother’s reaction to the news. "She believes me when I tell her I'm okay. I haven't changed my plans. I'm not giving up the army or praying at the Kotel."
Prof. Achmed Eid, in whose department Aharon was cared for, came to say goodbye and bid his patient farewell and a quick recovery. The perpetrators, Palestinian youth terrorists, have been arrested.
