Several youngsters have been hospitalized recently with myocarditis, a serious inflammation of the heart muscle, and doctors are wondering if they had undetected COVID-19.
One 15-year-old myocarditis patient at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, for example, tested negative for the coronavirus. He is now undergoing serology testing to see if he has antibodies to COVID-19, despite not having experienced any symptoms of the disease.
Hadassah has offered to test youngsters in other hospitals with similar heart inflammations to see whether they have antibodies.
Following intensive treatment, Hadassah’s patient is no longer in serious condition.
