Around the globe, nurses are being celebrated for Year of the Nurse, including one of our own Youth Aliyah graduates. Pictured in a red headscarf on a large billboard in Jerusalem honoring Hadassah Hospital nurses, Liza Hadooj Matskina is a graduate of Hadassah’s Meir Shfeyah Youth Village, a mother of two beautiful children and a Hadassah Hospital nurse.
Liza first came to Israel as an immigrant, graduated from Meir Shfeyah and served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) before pursuing her career as a nurse. Liza’s journey is inspirational, and she’s just one example of how Hadassah’s Youth Aliyah villages set at-risk youth in Israel on a successful path.
“Liza is bright, vivacious and articulate in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English,” says Lauren Stern Kedem, Hadassah’s liaison to the youth village, adding, “So proud of her life, her work and her many contributions to Israel.”
