About this episode

What really happens behind the scenes when you rush your child to the ER? In this episode of Hadassah On Call, we sit down with Dr. Saar Hashavya, head of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, for a candid, eye-opening and surprisingly heartwarming conversation.

We talk about everything from triage to when you should call an ambulance instead of hopping in the car. Dr. Hashavya shares stories from 20+ years on the frontlines — including how a boy survived meningococcemia thanks to fast action and cutting-edge care. We also get into mental health in the ER, new technologies like point-of-care ultrasound and even a certain ice cream freezer that’s helping patients (and parents) leave the hospital with a smile.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent or just someone who wants to understand the magic and madness of pediatric emergency care, this is one episode you won’t want to miss.
